Quick intro: Forrest lives on a guest ranch with his parents, in the San Juan Mountains about an hour outside of Creede, Colorado. The summers mean work to pay for the winter habit. Half the year he is snowed in, and has to snowmobile the last 6 ½ miles to home. That also means he can ride from his doorstep, covering some of the most varying backcountry terrain within that makes up his backyard. Since he started riding 8 years ago, riding has become one of his great passions. He continually strives to expand and progress his riding skills. He also has a blog solely on riding, at www.Highcountryhillbillies.wordpress.com

Jennifer Edwards

Age: 30
Living in: Alamosa, CO

Years riding: 5

Current sled(s): 2009 Polaris Assault

I began riding about 5 years ago as something to get out and do in the winter that didn’t involve driving hours to a ski area and standing in long lines to get on a lift. My first sled was a 2000 Polaris RMK 800. It was a lot of sled…..and a lot of fun! I’ve always had Polaris sleds and they have always been good to me. The sled I have now has the heavier lugs and I really like it.
Position/relationship to XMS: I have done some sledding with other XMS members. I guess the idea came up for XMS and someone said “hey….we outta see if Jenn’s interested.” As with most things, I said “sure….let’s check it out”.

Misc/fun facts: I’m actually a “paperpusher” for a living (loan officer). When the snow melts in the spring, I enjoy showing American Quarter Horses, target shooting, hunting, going to the lake and good times with my friends.

Favorite places to ride: The mountains outside of Creede, CO offer a lot of country to cover and Cumbres/LaManga Pass has great wide open places to play. I’m looking forward to seeing new places with Xtreme Mountain Sleds!

Kris Ward

I am the camera guy/editor for the team.
XMX purchased 2 of the Contour HD 1080p Helmet cams and 2 of the Hero Helmet cams for us to try out this season.  The 2 main cameras are the Sony HDR-XR500V that record in full 1080 HD.

I went to school for two years for television production. I learned the ins and outs of live media to making movies of all kinds.
I am an amateur snowmobiler, but did grow up in Creede, Colorado, so am familiar with the mountains and terrain of Southern Colorado.  I don't have a sled yet, but would love to own one!

Mark Middleton

I am new to the snowmobiling scene, but have a great support cast of riders with years of sledding experience. I grew up racing atv’s and personal watercraft in Texas, and have been skiing here in CO since I was 4 and took up snowboarding about 3 years ago.   I have also been wakeboarding for the past several years and had training at The Wakeboard Camp in FL and Sasser Wakeboarding School in Ft Worth.
My main business is in transportation. (www.midtex.us); been in the business since 1997 providing refrigerated transport in all 48 states, Mexico and Canada.  My father has been in trucking since the early 60’s and I enjoy carrying on the family business.  I have been married to Monica Middleton for 11 years and have 2 great kids, Maci (6) and Micah (2).  I love hunting white tails in South Texas, Bow hunting (www.texasbowhunter.com) and pretty much any activity to do with snow or water.
My favorite sled is the 2010 Arctic Cat M8 LE Turbo. Boondockers turbos, Klim Gear, HMK, XXX Mod Rods, Habervision Goggles (anti-fog device is awesome), and Dragon Alliance.
My favorite Helmet cams are the Contour HD proving us with full 1080p video for our upcoming video release.
My favorite place so far to ride is Wolf Creek, but we have so many new places to ride this year with our sponsors it gonna be very difficult to decide the best place.  Also completed the AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Class.

Clint Johnson

I've been riding for about 6 years now.  My nephew got me involved several years ago in more xtreme and advanced riding.  Since then I have pushed the limit to the max of both myself and the sleds I ride.  The main terrain that I like is climbing chutes, high marking and straight up hill climbs.  I just took delivery of an Arctic Cat (George Marsh Turbo) sled from Deviant Sledworks.  This should be one heck of a thrill ride.  Completed the AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Class.

Ruggy Hood

Hello All,

My name is Eric Hood, although everyone knows me by "Rug" or "Ruggie".  My main rides are a Ski-Doo Summint by winter and my custom Harley Chopper by Summer.  I've pretty much been riding all my life (from knee high to a grasshopper).  I live here in Creede, CO otherwise known as Gods Country.  I became a part of the Xtreme Mountain Sleds project because of my passion to ride and push the envelope to the limit. We have a great team this year with great people.  I consider them as family.

Scotty Leggitt

Hello, my name is Scotty Leggitt.  I am a Creede native and have a passionate desire to ride.  I have grown up riding and skiing and no stranger to anything to do with snow.  I joined up with the team this year to help them excel with the riding skills I can offer.  I am all about deep power.  I love riding the deep power in the trees and boondocking any chance I can get.  This should be a great venture for all of us and look forward to a great riding season.

Scott Sanderson

My name is Scott Sanderson, I've been riding for about five years now. I have an Arctic Cat M1000 with your usual mods nothing major. I grew up in the San Luis Valley Co. and have always been in the mountains riding four wheelers and motorcycles since i was a kid and now snowmobiles are my love. XMS is an opportunity for me to do what i love with a wonderful group of people and hopefully show others why we love it so much. Thanks and enjoy!

George Clennin

My name is George Clennin.  I have lived in Colorado all of my life and currently live in Grand Junction.  I have been riding sleds for about ten years now and live for the winter time.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my dirt bike, the water of Lake Powell and four wheeling in Moab, during the summer months, but there is nothing quite like the steep and deep.

I ride the Grand Mesa, Wolf Creek, Crested Butte and Steamboat areas mostly but plan on riding in Wyoming, Utah and hopefully Montana this year.

My favorite types of riding are: Side hilling, Highmarking, Jumping and Boondocking in the heavy timber.

My final words: Invest in the proper avalanche equipment, learn to use it and LIVE TO TELL ABOUT IT!

Shelly Clennin

My name is Shelley Clennin, but all my friends call me "ROGE"!

I am 33 years old, mother of two and wife to George Clennin.  I own three business and am crazy busy, but ABSOLUTELY will make time to ride my 2009 Arctic Cat M8!  I am a very outdoors type person and enjoy the challenge of getting good at "men sports".   My husband has taken the last ten years of our marriage and helped me learn all types of sports but my favorites are dirt biking, fourwheeling and now sledding.

I have been riding snowmobiles for six years now, but believe me, it wasn't my favorite sport and quite honestly I was horrible at it!  At first I couldnt stand the cold, hated following George up any incline and getting in deep powder was out of the question!  My first sled was a Yamaha Mountain-Max, fast for sure but HEAVY! One day, George was tired of digging me out and he told me to jump on his 2005 Arctic Cat M7.  Hesitantly, I ageed to his request.  After about two hours of endless fun, I realized that he was getting a new sled because this one was mine!  From that day forward, I have worked very hard at conquering my fears of snowmobiling and am so grateful for my husband never giving up on me!  My favorite type of riding is in deeeeeep powder, hill climbing, jumping and I eventually want to master the art of side hilling! My favorite place to ride is the Grand Mesa, however, I do enjoy new scenery.  I am hoping to ride in Montana and Wyoming this year.

I was introduced to XMS through my husband and am very excited to be a part of the team! I hope for good snow this year so we can produce some amazing video and fun clips for all to see! Colorado is the most beautiful place I have ever seen and the riding is out of this world!

My favorite gear would be Klim and FXR. Since I have learned that gear really does make the day enjoyable, I wouldnt trade for anything else.  I wear womens Klim under and outer gear with my FXR coat! If I get cold now, its because I am not riding hard enough!

My final thoughts: If the mountain seems to high.. GO THROUGH IT!.. Dreams are what makes life worth living, without them, its a continuous cycle of dead endings!
